If you do need cleaning fluid: at the most make a microfiber cloth a tiny bit humid away from the computer, make sure you cannot squeeze any drop out of it and then wipe with that over the screen. But they gave me a replacement screen for free -outside of warranty-, probably because I used one of their cloths I guess (as they asked more details on just how I caused the damage). I was fully expecting to get a serious invoice for replacing the retina screen. I took it to Apple and fessed up I rubbed too hard with one of their microfiber cloths. stain itself still there, now more visible than ever beforeĪs it was smack in the middle of the screen and impossible to unsee once you've seen it. I used one of the Apple black cloths that used to come with every MBP, and rubbed just a bit too hard or too long it seems. I'm very excited about the future but absolutely not gonna wait around with the state of things at the momentĬlick to expand.I can attest to that: had a small spot in the middle of my own MBP retina some years ago.

I know that it's not a surprise that a lot of professional software isn't functioning, but Rosetta 2 isn't a magic wand for a lot of stuff, despite what these surface level/early reviews show. It's also got everything running on it that I need.

I actually did a full live stream with multiple cameras on my 15" 2012 macbook pro last night, which used QuickSync to encode multiple h.264 streams really efficiently and barely dropped many frames over an hour and a half.

I'm actually going to return my Mac Mini because there's just too much that doesn't function well yet. I also do online streaming professionally and NDI doesn't work, which is essential for my workflow in Wirecast. It's really powerful but between Big Sur and the new chip there is no way I'd recommend this right now for professional work or anything where you need reliability. 'Audio unit error' when running third party plugs in Logic. My Apogee Duet's companion software doesn't recognise it.
